At Field Notes Architects, we believe architecture should do more than shape space — it should solve problems.

Every project brings its own challenges, and our role is to turn those challenges into opportunities.

We don’t follow a fixed “house style.” Instead, we work with the specifics of your site, your goals, and your constraints — designing solutions that are clear, creative, and practical.

Our approach is straightforward:

  • Listen carefully

We start by understanding your priorities, your site, and the issues you want to resolve. The best solutions come from asking the right questions.

  • Understand the problem

Each site has hidden opportunities as well as obstacles. By analysing constraints honestly and creatively, we uncover the real issues that need to be addressed.

  • Design the right solution

Our designs are tailored, not templated. The outcome might be a drawing, a report, or a full building design — always in a format that’s useful, not decorative.

Whether that means rethinking a single room, finding space that others have missed, or reshaping a complex site, the principle stays the same: buildings are tools to make life better.

We also believe good buildings should last. That means using what already exists, improving comfort and efficiency before adding more, and designing details that age well rather than date quickly. A well-made wall, a window in the right place, or a layout that works all year round — these are the things that save energy, money, and waste over time.

Let’s start with a conversation

Whether you’re exploring ideas, planning work, or improving what’s already there, the first step is to talk.

We’ll listen, ask the right questions, and give you a clear sense of what’s possible before you spend a penny.
